Cranford Villa is located in Diyatalawa, 215 km away and 6 hrs drive from Colombo in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. It is at an altitude of 1,499 m (4,921 ft) and has a much cooler climate with a mean annual temperature of 16 °C. It is home to the military training academy and according to available records the location was selected around 1885 by the British Army to establish a training facility. It is believed that the selection was based on the agreeable climate in the area. Diyatalawa is situated in close proximity to the scenic towns of Banadarawela and Haputale.

Cranford Villa is a spacious heritage bungalow nestled in the lovely hills of Diyatalawa. Overlooking misty blue capped mountains that embrace up country rail track, Cranford is surrounded by vineyards, vegetable plantations and a beautiful garden. Ideally suited to spend a peaceful holiday and to relax and rejuvenate your mind.

The design of the bungalow takes its inspiration from Sri Lanka's colonial past, with its bright, cool veranda, teak four-poster beds, and quaint fire-place. Cranford boasts five newly refurbished bedrooms, all of which have en-suite bathroom facilities. The two deluxe rooms have their own television sets with a variety of local and international (cable) channels. You can take a stroll in our extensive garden, relax in the hot water Jacuzzi or enjoy a game of basketball or badminton. We also offer a range of indoor games like carom, darts and cards upon request, and guests are welcome to make use of our extensive DVD library.

Once a pleasure retreat of European plantation, owners, the town of Diyatalawa retains much of its old-world charm. Its simple rusticity is enticing to both the world-weary and the adventurous. Blessed with a pleasant, mild climate all-year round and boasting plenty of scenic walks, it offers the jaded traveler the opportunity to rest and rejuvenate his mind. The more energetic will take delight in the region's hiking trails or choose to visit some of its attractions by cycling.

Cranford is located 20 minutes away from the breathtaking Ella gap and just 3 km from the traditional tea country of Bandarawela. The impressive Diyaluma, Dunhida and Rawana waterfalls are a short drive away. The striking Victorian railway viaduct known as the "Bridge in the sky" is another notable attraction while railway enthusiasts might want to visit the famous Demodara railway loop nearby. Though some 30 km away, the 16th century Bogoda Wooden Bridge which is believed to be the oldest surviving wooden bridge in the world is another place of interest.
